That's from my era too. I loved it as a kid. I actually looked it up several years ago on YouTube, was like wow, this has to be the stupidest show ever! But for a kid, yes I an see why she's addicted to it.
Of course back then there wasn't alot of tv watching and very little options as to what to watch anyway. We only had like 5 channels to choose from. Lol

I saw it many years ago when I was a kid. I thought it was alright. What you should know is that just about everything produced in the 1970s, even Saturday morning shows and cartoons, were strange and weird in a way.
