All have passed away now long ago. 😞

I did take care of both parents separately when they were alive. All grandparents I just never knew. 😞

I did get to see one step grandparent, when I was 14. Yet even she was extremely old. 92 if I remember correctly. Yet definitely no blood relationship. More my half brother and sisters blood relationship.

My siblings fathers mother.

My maternal grandparents, yes. They were very loving to me. We kept in touch by phone and I visited them during summer.

I became very close to my parents after I grew up, because I was responsible and they respected me as an adult.

Pop told me something recently that my mother told him before she passed, that touched me beyond belief…she said of all the kids, if I weren’t her child she thought I would still be her friend. 🥹
@bijouxbroussard That’s incredibly beautiful, something to treasure forever. 🫂

Your mother was an exceptional person.

Thank you for sharing her words with us.

My parents era was not one of "friendship" with the children. It was more do as your told, but we do love you. Once I got married we began to relate on another level. We became more interactive? We expressed love for sure, but it was always a parent child relationship. It was distant at the same time. As immigrants we never had aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins. I had ONE adopted grandparent. She was never married and never had children.I tried to be lovey dovey with her but it was ... not a lovey dovey relationship. It was mostly a title. There was no coddling. Ever. All this close but distant way of living contribute to who I am today. Close, loving but distant. I'm wondering why you're asking this question. Are you close to your parents ? Grandparents?
@Mindful

So sorry to hear that. 🙏
I had a close relationship with my grandmother, more so than with my grandfather.
I often believe that whenever my grandfather looked at me, it reminded him of my mother.

In my heart I am - my Dad taught me so much. I mean I guess I was extra open to it - but not a day goes by that I don't use a skill or lesson that he showed me. And my Mom gave me humor, which makes life more tolerable and even fun....RIP you 2 🌠

my mothers side I was, my father side I wasn't. My father ruined that for everyone
@HumanEarth So sorry to hear that. 🤎

I learned at an early age to keep a careful distance from my parents. My mother was very seriously mentally-ill and my father was the worst human being I have ever known. They made my childhood a living Hell.
@hunkalove Speechless.

@hunkalove I can relate about your father
They're all dead except my dad and i have never been close to him. He hardly remembers my name half the time.🤷🏾‍♀
No, not at all. All my grandparents passed away, as did my mother to whom I was fairly close and my dad barely deserves that title. We're still in touch, but our relationship is very transactional.

I am close to my parents but they only know the surface of me. I only have my mom now.
fun4us2b · M
@mindstruggle I think parents know us before we do...
@mindstruggle 🤎 🙏
Unfortunately there are none left.
@OlderSometimesWiser I am sorry. 🙏
