You need to set boundaries as your being used as a ATM

FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
Not family but a friend of my son who I let live here when he was having family trouble, but he hasn’t called in a few months, he was regular caller for 50 bucks here and there, and to his credit he paid me back.
DareToSayIT · 31-35, M
@FreeSpirit1 They are the people who have integrity. Some people just take the money and never show up again.
being · 36-40, F
I'm sorry about that.. I am leading a different lifestyle and sometimes I ask my family for money, but it's not more than few times per year. I am always very careful and I always let few months to pass before I ask again, and I usually don't unless it's gets really difficult.

I do have this guy from India though whom I met in Nepal who's asking me to send him money now and again. Once he was telling me how he was cold etc and I send him a jacket. That's all I have sent him but he keeps on asking and I really feel strange as I don't have much myself but then I understand that it's always a matter of scale.

It's a whole wild field, to give and to receive, and when is it proper and when is it necessary.

My sister. I have spoken of her many times here on SW. She had a good life or so I thought at the time. She left her family, the fact that her drinking surfaced. Before we found out how bad the drinking was she had borrowed thousands of dollars from us. She was stealing from her patients. She lost job after job. It was always money from us. Years went by and she was practically homeless. She died while i had to stand beside her and watch.

Some people cant be helped.
tobynshorty · 51-55, F
@Strongtea thank you. There were so many years in the making that I feel that death was a relief.
Strongtea · 22-25, M
Oh gosh, that’s genuinely heartbreaking, life can be so awful sometimes. You’re such a strong positive person, you’re amazing.@tobynshorty
Jenny1234 · 56-60, F
@tobynshorty I’m so sorry
DareToSayIT · 31-35, M
Thankfully no.

I heard that there’s this guy whose uncle who’s loaded, used to post in the family group chat about not having any money and ask for help just so no one would ask him for cash or even suspect he was wealthy. You may try this trick on your sister-in-law.
eyeno · M
Say what I said to my dad...., I have my exspenses too. What does that leave me, but working and not being paid back....
YoMomma ·
Nope.. i used to have a cousin who would ask money for school but then she kept asking and asking and i got skeptical and stopped sending 😒 she said she’d pay us back (several hundreds of dollars) but never did (not that i expected her to) 😏 she finished school tho and got a job as a teacher and got married and has two kids now ..

As for your sister in law i wouldn't give her a dime 😅
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
Yes my sister in law. There is always an angle, she never calls just to see how we are doing. My wife cut her off permenantly. My brother was a bit like that when he was in his early 20's but he was immature and lost.
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
The one I have doesn't call she begs on her Facebook page and then gets mad if nobody helps her and posts that on Facebook ,too.
This happens at least twice a month.
She's one of these people that want you to fund thier life for them so they don't have to figure it out for themselves.
DownTheStreet · 56-60, M
Thankfully no. I’ve only loaned money to family member once and it was repaid within a week
SlippingAway · 46-50, F
Not anymore I cut off contact with my Dad who would do this a lot
Degbeme · 70-79, M
No I`m very lucky in that sense. I`d have to refuse them anyway, I`m on a pension.
HoeBag · 46-50, F
She just needs money to buy a new dress to wear to the upscale restaurant she likes to dine at on Sunday evenings. Maybe give her more than she asks so she can take a limo instead of an uber. 😄

You should get on one of those photos where she is at some fine diner or wearing some beautiful outfit and post, "Well, at least I know where my money is going."

That would go over like a f4rt in church. Not just a little "Sneak cheek" one but one of those bench-shaking loud stinky wafting f4rts that you start swinging your f*sts trying to scare it away.

Or maybe ask, "What happened to the money I gave you last time?"
BobbyMoeven · 100+, M
Aww man.. That's a shame..

Luckily I don't.
I am easy going, if the two daughter ask for money I never request the money back
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
@OriginalNedKelly
Adopt me 🥺 LOL
TurtlePink · 22-25, F
Sister in law? Sorry, but just because we’re related by marriage does not mean that I’m gonna giving you money.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
Sometimes its good to be the only child of migrant parents..😷
DearAmbellina2113 · 41-45, F
My brother. But I put a stop to that.
Yep, only time I hear from him
lilylovesgaming1986 · 36-40, F
Sounds like a good reason to turn off the ringer on your phone
My dad blahhh hes the worst
@TryingtoLava I'm sorry, Lava...
@SomeMichGuy im over that guy
@TryingtoLava Which I know is true, but even sadder...even though necessary.
Then call her on it and stop.
Tumbleweed · F
Wire her a job application next time.
Jenny1234 · 56-60, F
@Tumbleweed she’d never stoop so low as to work a real job 😂
Tumbleweed · F
@Jenny1234 Ah... one of those huh?? Well if she's bumming money all the time, she ain't as high falootin as she thinks she is!! 🙄
BobbyMoeven · 100+, M
