The last five years has seen everything from physical separation due to covid and all that; division of people via opinionated rubbish online and in media generally; and people losing touch due to misunderstanding from not having the regular contact they used to.

A relationship should be one where you benefit, rather than being something that can be thrown away. Hope things get better for the two of you
