I was looking at people walking by after work. Everyone looked sad. every single one. it was beneath the smiling faces. I could feel the sadness. I imagined what everyone must be going through in their individual lives. I felt a sense of kindness....

That's what we call empathy. Sensitive souls usually have that keen awareness. More often than not, many of us are so focused on the day's itinerary that we forget to smile.
