I've had all sorts of weird experiences like that. I'm tired and about to head to bed (it's 5 am here in Aus) but I love talking about weird and mysterious things. I'll friend you.

Its just light sleep. And controlling your dreams is lucid dreaming, scientific fact. Youre a lucky one if you never had to try to control dreams. Ive been trying for 3 months, hard, and ive only had around 6. Short ones, too.
But. Light sleep works like that sometimes. I experienced it this morning, as a matter of fact. Was trying to sleep, then i looked at the clock and an hoir and a half went by, but i felt like i hadnt slept, at all.

@Era90: ive experienced it many times, trying to WILD. If you want to experience it again, just to see, then sleep a full 7-8 hours, then take a nap in the afternoon. But. Try to stay completely still, eyes closed, in quiet and complete darkness, and stay awake. For like at least an hour and a half. Eventually, you'll experience the time dilation again. You'll get up and go, "shit, this isnt working," then 1.5 hours will have gone by, and you'll be like, "wait...what?" I think it's because you phase out of consciousness sneakily, then regain consciousness to where you don't realize you actually fell asleep. The first phase of sleep is close to consciousness. It has happened to me a lot.
With lucid dreaming, youre entering your subconscious mind. Dream control can be difficult, sometimes, because your subconscious might want to tell you something and will not allow you to change certain things. Or will force a storyline, as yours does.
Especially with reoccurring dreams, that's a major sign that your subconscious mind is trying to tell you something, but youre just not consciously recognizing or accepting it. And, if you can control the outcome or events, it's probably your mind telling you, "Find the best way to get to the best outcome." As a metaphor for something in your waking life.

@PlacidWolverine: hmm thanks. Your post is very informative and let me put a lot into perspective 😄 I'll definitely be giving the light sleeping a shot again then. Thanks again ^_^

@Era90: Mhm. No worries. Just remember to keep your body still. I should add, though, so you know what to expect, doing this will make it possible to enter a dream state directly from a waking state.
And, if you reach that boundary, then you will first experience numbness of your body, first 10-20 mins, then possibly vibrations growing in intensity, and feeling like your body is twisting or moving in strange ways at around 1H-1.5H. Or very realistic hallucinations.
And possobly sleep paralysis. If you cant move your body at all, just relax and wiggle your toes, and you will beckme un-paralyzed.
If you get to that stage, youve gone too far for your purposes. But, you could remain calm and follow it to have extremely intensely vivid dreams--with near complete dream control. The WILD is known to be the most vivid type of lucid dream, like entering another world.
G'luck in any case.

Dissociation can feel like what you describe. for me it only happens under extreme stress .never heard of it just happening for no reason.
Era90 · 31-35, F
Yeah I agree and understand this but I feel more stressed like i just don't belong here. I have a very good rewarding job. Loving family. Great friends and boyfriend yet I just still never really felt like I belonged here. Thinking about it all just reminded me of the first situation I couldn't really explain. I guess I'll need a lot more discussion with someone than just a simple post to expect answers.
