It sounds like you are stuck in the past. Take it from someone who has been there, as long as you hold onto the past you have no future. I assume this man had moved on. It sounds like you are giving up too quickly by not even giving potentials one date to show you what you have. Long ago a counselor told me I should allow up to 3 dates to decide someone isnt for me unless 1) they are rude or appear to be mentally unbalanced. 2) They have hygiene problems or 3) You find out he is married.

I’ve considered that before, that maybe I am living in the past. The memories are just so sweet, I want to relive them, I miss him. Honestly, while I am aware that experiences are what makes us, what’s creates is and teaches us...I’m scared. I’m scared that maybe I actually will find love with someone else, that I’ll invest all this love, time and effort into someone else then end up feeling that pain all over again. It’s safe to just be alone and disregard every potential I meet. I know it’s not right or healthy but I just don’t know how to let go of that fear and move forward@Fungirlmmm

It is never easy to move on after you get your heart broken. Talk with your friends and family and try hard to think of other things. Don't allow yourself to compare any new date with that guy. Good chance that no other guy will be able to compete with the one you used to love and probably still do from the sounds of it. Time (as another suggested) will eventually help. But you have to really put the effort in and move on. Nobody will tell you it is easy, but it is what you need to do. I wish you luck, hopefully you will meet a guy that will be the next right one for you.
