I've never really understood why women claim these garments to have been humiliating.
They seem significantly more modest that the items worn on the beach by girls today, and they do that by choice!

Brings back happy memories 😊 At my school in the 1950/60's all the girls did gym/PE in their knickers,bottle green at junior school navy blue at senior school.
