I was an adjunct professor for three semesters. I loved it but I'm glad I never got a position. The demands on faculty today to teach, research, do administrative work, volunteer to both your scholarly profession and to the public are overwhelming. You don't get a chance to have much of a life of any sort. One professor didn't have a hobby until she was in her fifties. Literature professors often don't get to read for enjoyment but strictly for teaching and research.
Being a professor is a high and wonderful calling but today it's more about quantity of work than quality.
Like the professor in X-men, yes.
Only if I may teach Archaeology, while allowing time for the opportunity to collect rare antiquities. 😜

It's cool to be a Prof, but it has to be humble. I've met three Profs, the two are humble, the other one was @#$% 😁
