I'll give my own answer but let me address the other answers so far.

The fibonacci does not explain anything it is just one type of pattern.

The brains being able to detect pattern doesn't explain anything either, the fact is that these patterns exist in nature whether our brain detects them or not.

So with all due respects to these interesting answers let me give my own.

In studies of chaos and complex system there are 1) self-organization and 2) emergence. Please look these two key words up under the proper subject. Best to look at them under chaos theory and complex systems but also they will begin to take importance in other subjects as well, as they are not merely abstract, they exist out there in nature.

Fibonacci sequence eh? It's very interesting, for sure. Sea shells even have such patterns.

because the human brain and probably every brain on the planet learned to detect patterns to increase their chance of survival and eventually came to like seeing patterns everywhere
