@bbcjsv. Yes, if that's how they address their students. They obviously think it's an appropriate form of address. In the UK, some teachers address their students by plain surname. Others only address male students like that and address female students by first name. The way I see it, do unto others...
Address them as Mr. or Ms. and then their last name unless the person requests something different.
