The only real insight I can offer, is that I spent a number of months texting back and forth with my girlfriend before we were able to kind of elevate to the next step. So you just have to ask yourself if its worth your time to go down that road

Use a real computer with a human-sized keyboard and write at length, not the awkward short bursts of words that can mark anyone as shallow. And make your writing half about her, not yourself. Early on, discover common interests; they'll get you into mutually enjoyable territory sooner.
