Apparently the Heatwave finished 9am this morning but is expected to return on the 7th July for five days in the UK.
Britain simply isn't geared up for heatwaves we live in a "Tepid Climate".

I think there were two, perhaps three, consecutive, very hot Summers around 1976, with a wet Winter in between. Summer 1976 was hot but also dry for a long time.

Looks like this coming week will be our first serious heat going from the high 80s to mid 90s here in Ohio. :)

Yep…on the other side of the mountain the forest caught fire.
There was a red sky at night as it burned for ages.

The summer of '76 was crazy in that we had 15 consecutive days above 32*C. (89.6 F)
We have had higher temperatures since but not for such a prolonged period.
37.3*C (98.6 F) is the highest so far this year

@level1 In a modern context (reading about the significant number of injuries and deaths in recent years from heat related incidents) the numbers of deaths attributed to 'misadventure' has grown significantly and worryingly.
Whether it be children in private nurseries or left to their own devices and doing risky behaviour things in dangerous places like rivers or lift shafts or older people in care homes where the management refuse to put the air conditioning on because of costs. Is quite shocking

@Picklebobble2 I agree, but also partly better recording and coordinating of statistics also?
Picklebobble2 · 61-69, M
@level1 Oh the older I get the less I trust statistics.
In my view statistics can be manipulated and used in relevant and irrelevant ways.
Look at how Trump has done exactly that with regard to the 'dangers of unchecked immigrants' while bemoaning the loss of farm harvests in America.
It's the same in the UK.
No government wants to introduce laws giving fairer wages and pensions to the workforce and then they moan as to why they can't fill vacancies for jobs nobody wants if it means you have to work a 0-hours contract.
