My dad was a soldier in Germany once. There's one souvernir of his time there that I've admired and loved since childhood. It's a metal miniature of the Dom St. Peter und Maria in Köln. I've inserted how that building survied the heavy bombing...

@nrod177 No, the Belgian army had a presence in Germany like the other allies from the end of WOII till 2002. At the height of the Cold War Belgium had more than 40,000 soldiers there.

@Thinkerbell It's part of Mosan art (from Latin name Mosa meaning "Meuse") as in a regional style drawing from Carolingian art, produced mostly in the Meuse river valley, during the 12th and 13th centuries. The Meuse valley is in present-day Belgium, Netherlands, and Germany, and was indeed the jumping point for the Germans to win the Battle of France in 1940
