try taking a stroll in the downtown east side in vancouver (hastings street). that has got to be the saddest and scariest place in canada. we are canada's third largest city but i'm sure we have the most homeless and crime per capita. people are leaving bc in record numbers for alberta and ontario but it seems like more of canada's finest druggies are coming here because it's a little easier to sleep on the street here in winter than pronbably any other place in canada.....i used to be so proud of my country and city but i wonder now.

@Jenny1234 fortunately the city i live in now keeps the druggies out as there is no train/subway linked to down town. usually when they head out to the 'burbs they hang out/live near the train stations. it's their free ride to get downtown
The homeless need food, so they go where the food is. I see they are installing food banks all over the city and suburbs these days, so expect to see a lot more of them dispersing, which probably is not a good thing for the area IMO. Better for downtown, but downtown was lost to the homeless decades ago.
