we used to say the Lord's Prayer when I was in Elementary School - it was right after the Pledge of Allegiance.

if you heard us - it was like a chant that we didn't think about
CleverGirl · 26-30, F
@Pretzel Worse.
@CleverGirl Catholic schools accept non-Catholic students, too (at least they did when I was in school). A lot of the ones I knew thought the teachings were ridiculous. I simply meant the atmosphere wasn’t unfamiliar to me.

I left the church about 30 years ago.
CleverGirl · 26-30, F
@bijouxbroussard I came from an Irish Catholic family. I never believed a word I was taught.

Again God proved to me who he was two years ago... And even though me and him ain't "Boys" like we used to be IF I ever have a daughter I will make sure she KNOWS the Bible and has that relationship with God... And won't stop till shes the Princess of Heaven... And I've made that clear soo
CleverGirl · 26-30, F
@BrandonWyatt36 If you want to ignore where reason and testable evidence clearly lead that's your choice. Many prefer fantasy, never having received a proper education.
BrandonWyatt36 · 36-40, M
@CleverGirl Well the only way your going to get "Proper Education" is to get into your Bible... But that's not up to me... That's up to you to do that... You have to be serious about it... But on just giving my advice
CleverGirl · 26-30, F
@BrandonWyatt36 I've read it. It's the pretentious nonsense of unlearned ancient men.

A lot of those kids will learn to question and doubt the Bible from those Commandments when they realize almost no one pays any attention to them. It was reading the Bible that made me how evil religion is.
CleverGirl · 26-30, F
@hunkalove Eternal torture if you don't do exactly as told!
th3r0n · 41-45, M
God is true and the Bible is true, even if most things taught about them are lies
CleverGirl · 26-30, F
@th3r0n My love of reason and testable evidence leads me in a different direction.
Too many words. Could just be boiled down to: don’t be a dick
@BiasForAction And yet so many there still can’t follow that guideline.

@bijouxbroussard The ten commandments seem common to all Abrahamic religions but not to people of other beliefs. I'd point out that these rules predate any religion. They're necessary to community living.
@CleverGirl There are people from all over the globe here, and not all practice Abrahamic religions. But as taxpayers they are being compelled to pay for the Christian indoctrination of all public school children (including possibly their own). There already exist Christian schools for parents who want their kids so taught—separation of Church and State should allow state public schools to remain secular.
