I Love Chicago

Ah, yes! CHICAGO . . . Chi-town, the Windy City, the City with Broad Shoulders.

The Cubs, the Sox (blah), the Bulls, the Blackhawks, da Bears.

Millennium Park, the Sears Tower (Yeah, I know, but you will always be the Sears Tower to me!), the Adler, the Museum of Science and Industry, the Merchandise Mart, the Mag Mile, Navy Pier, the Art Institute, Lincoln Park Zoo . . . .

Too much corruption and mismanagement, too many senseless murders, "Crook County."

You're not New York City, but thank God, you're not LA either.

Damn you Chicago! I shouldn't miss ya, but I do at times. Not when the snow is up to my knees and it's minus-20 degrees and the wind has blown my umbrella inside out. But when Spring arrives and the sun is bright and shining, I wish I could see the dawn over Lake Michigan once more.

Why do you have such a hold on this girl's heart?
You made me miss her!!!

This strongly reminded me of the Frank Sinatra song "Chicago".

When Chicago is mentioned I have to think of the film "Blues Brothers" and with the gathering of the police at "Wrigley Fields" and the chase.

@Roteampelbremser "Blues Brothers" is an iconic Chicago movie. John Landis, who directed the film has made several Chicago-oriented movies. Also, the city was very dear to John Belushi who grew up in nearby Wheaton and got his big comedic start with the "Second City" improv group.

I was really hoping to come into this post and see the video for "You're the Inspiration" along with some choice lines of lyrics.

@veeceekay1991 Ha, yea I suppose so....a more fitting tribute.
I've only visited once. I found the architecture striking. Along with the gusts of wind
veeceekay1991 · 31-35, F
@penguinswon It's a GREAT place to visit, but to live there, not so much. It's like most large cities; if you are mega-wealthy, you can insulate yourself from all the problems and inconveniences that plague ordinary people.
It looks like a very dynamic city.
Trivia question: How did Chicago get it's "Windy City" moniker?
veeceekay1991 · 31-35, F
@penguinswon It relates to all the "hot air" from the politicians, NOT from the weather, although it is windy around downtown much of the time.
you got it!

I moved to NC 11 years ago, but it still doesn't quite feel like home.
