Christians who believe in the Greek version of hell, Jesus spent three days and nights in hell preaching to those in hell.
Christians who believe how the ancient Hebrews believed in Sheol, which is simply a holding place of darkness for the dead until Resurrection, Jesus went to Sheol and preached 3 days and nights to those imprisoned there.
The KJV Bible uses the word in prison.
Just in case one asked a question how did Jesus get out of hell, hell had no claim over him and could not keep him, he stayed those three days and nights on his by will. And when he finished his preaching his Spirit came back to his earthly body, rejuvenated it, and thus the resurrection.
