The Satanic Temple sponsors After School club in Chesapeake,Va

School board granted them the right to hold their club on school grounds, after classes. The meeting was disrupted by a bomb threat phoned in ( presumably by a theist ) the club promotes science, critical thinking skills and social equality. They do not worship Satan, and in fact say he isn’t real. Several Christians however want the school to withdraw the agreement despite the fact it is completely legal .[media=https://youtu.be/8Z2d538UB08]

Something unusual going on. If the Satanic Club, does not believe in Satan, why do they call themselves that?

Their messaging is confusing and so parents will be confused and need to be wary of what is being communicated to their children.

They see Satan as a rebellious symbol. Who holds god to his own standards and rules.
In this case, the Christian community has to obey its own laws and respect the equal rights of another religion. To do otherwise is hypocrisy. Which is what the temple is teaching and protesting.

@DocSavage You said the temple does not believe in Satan. Why would they be promoting a system of beliefs that they do not believe in? Your story in itself seems questionable.

There is no church law that requires it to respect the equal rights of another religion.

Read up of them. They don’t worship Satan as an evil entity , but consider him as a symbol of free will. Satan is a rebel, he created the balance. Equally. That’s not evil when the establishment is corrupt, or unjust. Things cannot change or grow without an opposing point of view.

No, but there is human law. And if you are moral and fair ,you obey it, even if you don’t like it personally. Satan gives us choice.

@DocSavage You are simply wanting to, through a false story, advertise The Satanic Temple. You tell us this group doesn't believe in Satan, but you start defending and promoting it.

For goodness sake, is this the best you can do?

You don't believe in it enough to be honest about what you are trying to do.

@Zeusdelight
If it makes any difference to you. I don’t believe or encourage devil worship . As an Atheist, I don’t believe in the religious or supernatural aspects, and don’t consider either as an influence on human morality.
I do however find it an interesting case.
The Satanic temple, has kept its word. They obey the law, and do not teach students Devil worshipping on school grounds. Legally and ethically, they have committed no crime. Why then should they be banned ?
If it was Christians that made the bomb threat, that is obviously an act of terrorism . This may just be a test case , but the good guys failed it.

@Zeusdelight
Given the facts relayed . Can you honesty and ethically defend the case for the Christians ?
I admit, as an Atheist I find the poetic justice in it amusing. But the legal aspect is also intriguing. Instead of trading insults, why not stick to the facts ?
Zeusdelight · 61-69, M
@DocSavage You have not posted this topic in any way that is honest. Now you are begging for honesty from me.

I am not interested in debating someone who is not honest or ethical.

What did he lie about? Satanist do not believe in a literal Satan. I’m not sure why that is hard for you to believe. You don’t know anything about Satanism. To call it unethical makes you the liar. @Zeusdelight
Zeusdelight · 61-69, M
@Imsleepy They didn't qualify the Satan they didn't believe in.
DocSavage · M
@Zeusdelight
What part do you find dishonest ? The club real or not can’t teach any religion in class. They don’t hold black mass. As I said, it’s no doubt a test case, they’re playing by the rules. The Christians are the ones making threats. Are you going to deny the hypocrisy ?
@Zeusdelight They do believe in atheistic satanism. A belief system that does not follow a supernatural being.
Zeusdelight · 61-69, M
@PrincessOfHell The OP, Doc Savage, might be able to clarify that. I don't know this group enough to comment.
