Who Christ Is - SO Much More Than a Prophet
Jesus said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM. JOHN 8:58
Consider how often we use the phrase, "I am," in conversation. It is also interesting to note that God used the phrase "I AM" in answering a question from Moses, who wanted to know how to identify God to the Hebrew slaves. Moses was to tell them, "I AM has sent me to you." (Exodus 3:14)
I AM is full of significance when applied to God. And Jesus used that significance to identify Himself to the Jews as being one with God: "Before Abraham was, "I AM" (John 8:58). So holy were these words to the Jews, they tried unsuccessfully to stone Him (John 8:59). Jesus went on to expand on the meaning of I AM, by using the phrase seven times to describe aspects of His being:
I am the Bread of Life
I am the Light of the World
I am the Door
I am the Good Shepherd
I am the Resurrection and the Life
I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life
I am the True Vine
He is also a Miracle Worker - Way Maker - Light in the Darkness - and Beautiful Savior
Meditating on each of these aspects of God's Person in Christ, reveals a plethora of riches about who He is and what He does. He is the Ultimate all, to mankind. There is no one and no "thing" above Him.
Revelation 22:13 - "I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last."
Psalms 86:8-10
"There is none like you among the gods, O Lord, nor are there any works like Yours. All the nations You have made shall come and worship before You, O Lord, and shall glorify your name. For You are great and do wondrous things; You alone are God!"

God is not the great I WAS...He is the great I AM.
