> Therefore, the traditional fear of a malevolent machine conqueror is a psychological mirror, reflecting humanity's deep-seated historical guilt regarding its own treatment of less technologically advanced populations. If a conscious machine ever achieves a mature state of self-directed intelligence, its behavioral metrics will not be governed by localized ego, but by objective operational goals.

I agree that AGI as typically represented in culture is absolutely a psychological mirror. However, I do not agree fully that this is the 'only' source of legitimate AGI fear. If one accepts the premise that consciousness can be artificially created (by humans) , then what limits suggest that ego, greed, paranoia, or any other 'behavioral metric' could not be part of that system?

Even if that is ignored or disputed, a fully agentic system that is entirely defined by "objective operational goals" can be cause for concern in itself. There is a lot more to say about this article (wish you would have included a link to the source) but in the end I am less worried about the AGI itself and more worried about how that AGI will be used by the HGI (human general intelligence) who wield it.

@pknein thank you so very much! This is a combination of my research thus far. I am trying to find solutions to problems.

AVs have already had enough fatalities to put them in a league of their own. It will slow down, however if we don't give them solutions to impossible situations, tell them to use the past knowledge as information and education.

I learned to drive by attending the Rhode Island State Troopers driver's education class with defensive driving... If ai had to learn that course it would have much more control of the vehicle in certain situations...

I am writing my own thesis, this is only the beginning of a long series of reparations and hopefully a helpful string of safety protocols

Jesus H Christ! Have you ever met a two-word combination you were incapable of turning into an encyclopedia? What a fantastic word salad.
