It's all about initial vibes.

We all have a past and you should never dismiss somebody for that.
But if you're of the opinion that that past is still part of his present.. .. that's a lot to take on.

Just go slow. He sounds like a nice but confused man. Maybe because of his overbearing mother. Maybe not but don't just throw it away.
