why is it, most likely, someone that never or quit smoking, gets cancer or dies?

and people that smoke don't get ill? most likely

It's all genetics and random chance...smoking has the risk of causing cancer...but there are more things found all the time that cause cancer...some of which are unavoidable

Genetics, some people have faulty genes that make cancer more likely.

@MonaLisa86 If you have genes that predispose you to cancer and smoke then it will cause cancer, not everyone has the genes that make it more likely, some people are lucky but they are in the minority.

That's false, 9/10 cases of lung cancers are from active cigarette smokers. Cigarettes kill.

@MonaLisa86 and it's lucky he stopped, because smoking also increases your risk for heart problems.

It's really just bad for you. I used to smoke, but quit two years ago.
