Genetics, some people have faulty genes that make cancer more likely.

so it has nothing to do with smoking?[@1078962,AntisocialTroll]

[@1205472,Mona1986] If you have genes that predispose you to cancer and smoke then it will cause cancer, not everyone has the genes that make it more likely, some people are lucky but they are in the minority.

That's false, 9/10 cases of lung cancers are from active cigarette smokers. Cigarettes kill.

[@1205472,Mona1986] and it's lucky he stopped, because smoking also increases your risk for heart problems.

It's really just bad for you. I used to smoke, but quit two years ago.

It's all genetics and random chance...smoking has the risk of causing cancer...but there are more things found all the time that cause cancer...some of which are unavoidable
