How difficult would it be to have my tubes tied?

I'm 20 years old and absolutely do not want children. If I ever change my mind I would rather adopt a child. How difficult will it be to find a doctor that will do it?
It's harder than you think. There's a lot of resistance to sterilizing younger people. I had a vasectomy when I was in my 30s because I was done having children and my wife and I didn't want to have to keep using condoms or worrying about it, and I still had to deal with a doctor asking me if I was "sure." Yeah, I'm sure, or I wouldn't be here. That's like a grocery store clerk asking if I really want that head of lettuce in my shopping cart. Not only that, the copay was ten times what it was for any other procedure, including the entire cost when my kid was born.

I think these days family planning Docs. prefer to offer the implant if it's a matter of birth control.

If you're talking about permanently ending your reproductive cycle that may have many side-effects as a result.
And i can't imagine a Doctor would want to do that unless there is something very beneficial healthwise to it.

Talk to your Doctor.

It isn't ending the reproductive cycle, only closing the tubes that lead to the baby section of the factory. @Picklebobble2

Apparently your body really wants one 10-20 years from now. I think thats pretty extreme and you might regret it. Like 10% of people want kids at your age, consider just using protection or even just getting an implant in your arm if you're that desperate.

I did get an implant. Has me bleeding for 2 years straight. It might be extreme but I'd really rather adopt either way. Too many kids in the world. I'm not desperate, mostly just inconvenienced. I want the inconvenience gone. @Ryannnnnn
@Ryannnnnn What if she has kids and regrets that? You don't get a do-over, like the guy said, it's not an Etch-a-Sketch, "that's one doodle that can't be undid."

Life is full of regrets for the road not taken. If you want to avoid regret, you can't do anything, and then you'll regret that.

U say that now. But when ur 40 and older ur going to wish you did. Adopting is not the same. I thought I did not want kids and. Now I'm 26 and my body is craving it. Even though I'm not ready and wont be will I'm in my 30s.

So I'm told. But I'm pretty certain. I really really don't like children. I've never wanted them.
Adoption shouldn't be different though, you should love your child the same whether they came out of you or not. Maybe adoption just isn't for you. @ScarletWitch
@ScarletWitch What if she ends up getting pregnant by accident, has the kid, and when she's in her 40s, she regrets that? There are people who regret having kids, you know - way more than the ones who regret having abortions.

I was told I'd be bleeding worse with an IUD. I currently have a hormonal birth control that's kept me bleeding for 2 years. Mostly doctors seem to push for other methods. @thedoctorisin

I've heard that many Drs in the US are reluctant to do this if you are young, single, and childless. I did know of a woman who traveled out of the US to have this done but that was many years ago and maybe things have changed some since then.

Well 21 is the minimum age for tubal ligation in the states
GlitterBug · 22-25, F
I can give it a few months. @SW-User

Probably very difficult, based on the experience of a male friend in his 30s

Talk to your regular Doc, they will help you.
GlitterBug · 22-25, F
Regular doc refers to to my gynecologist who tells me not to remove the birth control that's had me bleeding for 2 years straight. 😅 But yeah, I'll get it figured out. @NativeOregonian

@GlitterBug Find another Doc, any competent Gyno would have removed it, yours is a quack.
