How to treat skin calluses?

So I’ve been working in the lab a lot which is very dry but have been doing a lot of hand on work but have been developing these on my thumb and middle finger.

I’ve been applying Working Hands often lately and will fill a globe with it and sleep with it on.

Any other advice?

Wth? What exactly are you doing? Wear gloves

I’m an environmental scientist. Been doing lab work at a state park doing research on blue Green algae but we’ve been drying it out on wood blocks to view it in a microscope to see its longevity in a dry season. We use something like a salt powder to dry it out and with mixture of other work it just dried my fingers out.

Been wearing a glove on that hand now.@DarlingSelah

My ex had the same problem. What I did was get him some "Balmex". It's diaper rash cream, it contains zinc oxide. Zinc oxide heals and regenerates the cells to make new skin form. The sell it in the tube or a pump bottle. Get the stuff in the tube it seems to work better.

@curiosi can I get that at a cvs?

@TakingBackMidgard Yep, or Wal-Mart.

Healing will take a long time and attempts are of no use if the same repetition based injury to the fingers is.
ongoing.

There is a foot cream called Amlactin, it has a gentle amount of lactic acid in it which softens calluses.
There is also a tiny bottle of oil called Camphophenique. Camphor oil will reduce inflammatory process in cracked broken skin to promote healing.
Last you need a protective barrier. Aquaphor is 50% petroleum but it has a few other things such as lanolin and mineral oil. Apply and sleep in plastic gloves daily.
Stop the re injury if possible.

@REMsleep hey thanks for this. I’ll definitely be looking for those things now. I’d assume either online or a pharmacy?

@TakingBackMidgard Yes You may have to go to more than one pharmacy or just order on Amazon. All OTC and readily available
Wear gloves😟
Soak them and use a pumice stone to smooth them down.
Wear gloves and a bandage
