Has anyone ever had transesophageal echocardiogram done for them?

I have an E.C.G done every six months since suffering heart failure but never one down the throat .I don't understand the need to put a tube down your throat .

Yes I have had a couple done and although it's not all that pleasant it is bearable if they use anaesthetic cream
