Libraries....Oh, How I have Missed You ! [I Love the Library]

I miss books. More, specifically, missing browsing the local library to check out non-fiction and fiction books.....

Bloody covid!

Yeah I know what you mean. I worked in an old second hand book shop for about five years back home. Loved being surrounded by all that the old books and smells. I'm sure the pandemic has had a huge impact on the business and industry. I should message them to find out how they're doing.

@SammyJo especially those old ones from the 1800's lol. But yeah, there's something very distinct about old books.
I used to go to the library at least once a week. In 2006 we had a flood that destroyed all the books in the stacks which was my favorite section to look for books. I liked going to the library to read all the magazines but they're all gone now too.

There are e-books available if you know where to look and what to look for.

@Agent Yeah, but it's nice to just pop by a section in a library that just catches your eye......

Y'know?

@SammyJo Books a Million or Barnes and Noble are loaded with books, but they cost money. That's the catch!

@SammyJo digital media just isn't the same as having a tangible copy of something like a book, music, or movie.

Plus you are right, going to a library or store just to see what's there is part of the whole experience.

ARE they going to open the library there anytime soon? I imagine they may have some restrictions but at least it will be nice to go.
There鈥檚 a used book store in my neighborhood that鈥檚 been closed for awhile. I hope it reopens after the lockdown.

I have not been to a library in years. But I browse bookstores. I even did during the pandemic when they opened back up. Yet they took away all the chairs!

@SammyJo

Well, the two main chains took away their chairs several years ago. Maybe too many people were sitting and reading without buying? Yet most places had coffee or yogurt shops in the store, with tables. During the pandemic those were closed and their chairs gone.
