You certainly learn more about humans in a crisis. 3 months ago in the midst of our worst bushfires people were going above and beyond to help out their neighbours. Now in the same community they are fighting over food items in the store and creating shortages where there is no production issue.
The farmers are still growing,the dairies are milking, the factories are manufacturing yet the shelves are empty and people are fighting over the scraps.
The reptilian brain is never far from the surface it seems and the thin veneer of rational humanity can be broken through by fear and greed all too easily.
