It was not a perfect love. Far from it. She had her faults and he had his shortcomings. There were just as many reasons for them to let it go as there were to keep going. Their individual circumstances were completely wrong for it. The conditions their relationship tried to thrive under were not exactly ideal. It was by no means perfect. But then, what was perfect anyway?
That’s the thing about love. You don’t choose when you want it to come into your life. You don’t pick the person you want to love. You don’t decide whether or not they will love you back. It just happens. Regardless of how badly you may or may not want it. Irrespective of how completely wrong it might seem. You only have one choice to make. Are you going to embrace it and give everything you have to fulfil its potential or are you going to reject it? Whatever the decision, you better be happy to live with your choice. Some people might get more than one chance in life at answering that question, most only get one - if they’re lucky. Choose wisely. Most of life’s worthwhile decisions are not easy. But if you make the right one, days, months, years down the line it won’t seem nearly as difficult.
No, this was not a perfect love. Both of them knew it. They understood the hurt that inevitably came with it. But they also knew what they would miss out on if they chose the less painful path. It was love. Faulty, questionable, illogical. But, it was their love. The decision was easy after all. When it comes to love, it always should be!
