I Can Handle The Truth

We were told "We did not know" when we were asking people about their silence in times of massacres, genocides and ethnic cleansing. Today we witness massacres, killings and undignified deaths from civilians in Aleppo to refugees and migrants in the Mediterranean Sea.

We do see, we do know and we remain silent.

It is not about knowing or not ... it is about lack of consciousness, lack of courage and cowardice. It is about us when calculation and individual or national interests supercede conscience, dignity and justice. It is about about us ... human, too human... with no humanity.

Madeleine, I sit here
in my little house,
comfortable enough,
and complain about
the fact that my sinuses burn
and my chest wheeze,
I get asthma/irritated mucus membranes
because of the pollution,
that comes from fires burning
on the local dump.
Toxic fumes hang over our town
we feel like we're suffocating
but
The fires are started by poor people
they live on the dump
recycling, reusing our waste
it's all they have
I think we have reached a hopeless situation.
