I Am Chinese

It is against the law to release 天灯 (sky lights) in my country. When I was out of the country recently, I finally had the chance to release a 天灯 with my boy. My wish is for him to grow up strong and healthy and to be a good honest person. Grades are not everything. I will remember Chinese New Year 2018 fondly with this memory。

I was in New Zealand last March at the foot of Mount Cook my grandson curiously starring walking towards a little boy who caught his eye came towards him and touched each others hands
You could see a mile off that they were about to become friends
The grandfather of the little boy came towards me and pointed at himself saying Chinese and then pointed at me and I said Irish which he could not understand he called his daughter who could speak English but had no time for we both had seen and wanted and she brought them both away

This made me smile. Grades are not everything, true. The most important traits in a human being cannot be measured using numbers.

I am sure he will be a good, honest person. He has the best role model.

They’re so lovely. We see a few here go up on the 4th of July usually but never in such numbers. I’m glad you have this memory now. 🙂

Wow - I did not know that. Here in the US we actually call those 'Chinese Lanterns.'

@hlpflwthat I like the romantic feeling it gives...the thought that my wishes are carried far far away.

They are banned in my area..kill lots of wildlife. Which is a shame because they are beautiful x
