I Wear Dresses and Skirts

Back in the mid 1990's I had a special friend I would meet up with in a clearing in the back forty (the woods out back). She would go for long walks along the open farm field out back. When the weather was breezy, windy or very windy she would wear long skirts or long casual dresses. One day I popped the question as to why she wants/likes wearing these long skirts & dresses in windy conditions. Her reply is that the wind makes them feel liberating & exhilarating. Then she asked me if I would like to give it a try. At first I didn't, but the following days I did give in to her offer. So one day she brought a long rayon/acetate blend skirt for me to wear as she too was wearing a long rayon/acetate blend skirt. There was this old shed on the back of her property that we used for a changing room. As soon as I put on the skirt, it felt sooo much more cooler to wear with sooooo much freedom of movement. The rayon/acetate blend had a nice silky soft feel with such a fluid movement to it. We went for that usual walk she takes that last about 3 to 4 hours long. Winds were forecasted to be around 15 - 25 mph with gust up to 35 mph from the southwest, temps in the mid 70's. I can feel the wind tugging on the fabric as it was ruffling all around me. But the best part was when we were walking with the wind at our side - oh is that ever awesome!! The skirts were flapping like flags on a pole. One leg is draped in silky softness, while the other is drenching in windblown silky smoothness with every step. That's when I love wearing skirts in the wind, is with the wind at my side. Walking against the wind or with the wind doesn't really give you that whole windblown feeling like it does from the side.

The other windy days that follow she had me try on a silk skirt & that fabric is just totally awesome in the wind. It's so cloud soft, yet silky-silky smooth in the constant ruffly motion. And best of all about silk is that it makes the most beautiful rustling sound when it's ruffling like mad. Silk habotai makes a mild breezy day look like a darn hurricane as it's so like in weight. And if it's really windy the silk fabric is ruffling insanely fast.

In the following seasons that we are doing this she asked me if I would try on a casual dress. One that is considerably loose fitting in the upper torso and flows seamlessly into the gathered ankle length skirt. No waistband at all. Either short sleeves or long full or billowy sleeves - depending on the temperature. She says it's the best & most comfortable garment to wear when it's windy. Well... I've kicked myself many times not taking up her offer to wear a long loose fitted dress.

I sure miss that day. Miss the fact that I had a girlfriend that I can talk to and do things together. Some days we had a picnic. I'm guess this was what she had hope to do with her solemate. She told me she had mention to him that she wanted him to wear the skirts and/or dresses in the windy conditions as she thought it would be fun. But he didn't like that idea in fear that someone might see him wearing women's clothing. I didn't care as long as she was with me and wearing nearly the same kind of clothes of the same kind of fabrics. To me it was allot of fun to share the moment together. Was hoping I could find another gal like her or like the girlfriends I had back in Jr High. They too loved the windblown clothing as well. Heather was a beautiful gal too, fit & trim with shoulder length locks of curly baby soft brown hair, parted at the left side of her face and draped over to the right side. The wind would blow her soft lightweight hair about so beautifully.

As far as I know she either had a boyfriend, fiance or husband who travels allot. No kids. She was in her early to mid 20's & I was in my late teens. She eventually moved out after she found out he had 13 other girlfriends in other states.

Every time I bring up the subject of wearing long skirts or dresses I get the usual disgusted looks. I'm not dictating what she can or cannot wear. I'm just suggesting that it would be kinda nice if we could do it every once in a while together. Say like on those blustery windy days. Grant you I absolutely love the roomy, carefree fit of a long skirt. It's not something I want to wear every day of the week.

@Abbenthewarwolf - No. Nor did I wear makeup, ear rings, high heels, or a wig. My only interests in this type of garment is for comfort, coolness and carefree freedom of movement. It is nice to "get out of the Box" of normality for a change.
