I Smack My Childrens Bare Legs

When I was a teacher, smacked legs was a very quick and convenient way to punish a child for a minor misdemeanour. The advantage is of course that it can be given on the spot and almost instantly if a girl is wearing a skirt or dress or a boy is wearing shorts.

This was the main punishment in my infant school (6-8) in London. In those days boys wore shorts and girls wore skirts and dresses, so a good smack or 2 was quite easy to administer. 8 years plus, it was the cane or slipper.

@KiwiDan: I taught from the 1950s to the 1980s and corporal punishment wasn't abolished in private schools in the UK until 1996/7.

A friend of mine was just saying earlier this week when he did something deemed extremely bad he'd get his bare legs spanked instead of his bottom.......he then proceeded to tell say how cruel it was, and how he'd never done the same nor would he to his children......... so I can imagine it must be painful I don't think spankings of any kind belong in schools.

That sounds like it would hurt badly. But then again spankings probably hurt much worse.

@Oldmanjimbo: I can only imagine how getting your legs smacked would hurt. Especially if you used something like a ruler or other tool.
