Anyone here gone vegan in the past year or so, if so, what did you find the most difficult?

I want to start this in the next few months.

I'm mostly vegan so i'd probably only have something with animal products like bread if it contains a bit of milk or a slice of pizza once every 6 months etc. Occasionally i might each a small piece of chicken in a salad etc.

The most difficult part is making sure you get all the nutrients you will stop getting when you cease animal products. Many just eat the same diet and stop meat and dairy then they get get food cravings and health issues due to a lack of nutrients. So getting enough protein, B12 and iron & zinc would be the areas i'd look at.

@Grateful4you Thank you, and likewise too with your new dietary change. I grew up eating three meals a day that all were full of animal products and i had health issues as a kid. When i was 15 and before being vegan was even a thing, i just started to avoid foods that didn't make me feel so good and one day i realised i was eating much much less animal products. My health greatly improved and so did my athletic performances on the track as i was a 5k runner back then.

Also my advice would be that you don't have to make the change 100% over night, it may well be easier to transition to if you do it gradually, say taking out a lunch that was usually animal protien based then replacing it with a bean/leghume salad or something you work out is an adequate replacement.
@SW-User I will keep your post for when I start. Thank you again my dearest friend.

I did over a decade and lasted 3 weeks. Did it because of my gall bladder issues.
@cherokeepatti I should check and see if there is some kind of online support system. It's a huge game changer for most.

I switched in February. The hardest thing is not being able to just stop in at any restaurant.
