I Can't Stand It When People Fight Over Religion

The purpose of religion is to be kind and loving to each other. Still fight over one other to establish their faith. 🤷

scripture actually tells us not to argue over it
Let each person be fully persuaded in their own mind
Trouble is ,,most people prefer to misquote teachings they learned from someone else who was taught a doctrine of a church ,that does not always mean its in line with the Bible (or whatever holy text you study )
Scripture says we should be of one mind ,all speaking the same thing
a decency and in order
It all comes down to they don't study to show themselves approved
they just like to argue doctrine

"My Preacher said "

Now I can seem to go on when I break down something
We can't use 1 or 2 verses and call that sound doctrine
We are told it has to be line upon line ,precept upon precept
Precept interpreted with other precepts and the New has to line up with the Old ,not dispute it
God is the same yesterday ,today and forever
He foresaw the future and warned us what was coming and to be on guard for those who would alter His word ,His commandments ,His examples

So its not a simple job reproofing error ,but I won't argue
I share as it is written ,let the reader decide for themselves
Christ said (yes I am Christian ) few would actually find His way
and He also warned ,,on that day many will be turned away
They loved their doctrines more then they loved Him

They we're never His at all ,,He never knew them

They were arguing in vain ,,"They will know we are His by our love "

That REALLY depends on your religion, and your interpretation of it.
JBird · F
@firefall still that's basic idea of every religion. To be good human beings
firefall · 61-69, M
@JBird To be good human beings is not the same as being kind and loving to each other. If you want an extreme example, I offer the worship of the Mexica & Huitzilopochtli ... But Calvinism equally doesnt advocate being kind and loving to each other, in its raw form. Plenty of other examples.

That's what happens when there's no proof that your cosmic truths really are and they disagree with someone else's who are equally unprovable.

When was the last time we had a war between scientists over doctrine? It doesn't happen because the scientific method cuts as much subjectivity as possible from the equation.

This says it all,

Matthew 10:34
“Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.”

It’s a very old fight.

The ones who fight over religion must not be very secure in their belief. Those who live in peace with their interpretation of God (or of no deity whatsoever), have no need to fight.
@VeronicaPrincess I think that’s true of most fights over ideas. The shriller and louder the argument, the less sure the speaker
Exactly. Sigh.
In the long run, it’s not even about religion. It’s an argument to prove I am right and you are wrong and I won’t let it go until you admit I am right.

Lol whats funny is that it's usually the ones who don't believe in religion that starts the fire.
JBird · F
@SW-User actually I believe the fire that causes people not to have religion. I also fail to understand how can non religious people cause a turmoil if religious people are not intelligent enough to see the danger. Lol it's easy to point fingers.

no... the purpose of religion is to teach the truth. Being loving and kind is not part of every religion, nor is it the only important thing.
