I Feel Alone Even When I'm Not

I feel my family is very distant but for some reason I feel closer to them when I am far away. I actually dread having to go home not only because somethings are hard to hide but becasue when I see them I only feel further away and empty. family in this way seems like more of an obligations than something that comes natural.

That's how I feel about my brother and dad. Everyone acts like having a blood relation is supposed to make you have some magical bond, but it doesn't. You don't get to choose your family and sometimes as you grow up, you may come to realize you don't really like them. Don't get me wrong, I love my family for all they've done for me, but if they were strangers I met at a party or something, I wouldn't be trying to start a conversation.
