I Like Dressing Up

...actually, I prefer to call it dressing well. Clean, crisp, neatly pressed and buttoned-up; as long as I show through a warmly engaging smile and a readiness to listen and share respectfully, people nearly always understand that I'm not a snob; rather, I simply enjoy trying to bring a bit more charm into the world. I am heartened to find more and more returning interest in and appreciation for presenting a polished appearance and studiously practiced courtesy, for the simple pleasure it brings. I sincerely hope this trend continues.

馃憤馃徎馃憣馃憦馃弲That's great. If only more people felt as you do..........especially about the courtesy.

@Serenitree: Thank you for your virtuous trust. I merely added a touch of light-hearted self-effacing to assure people I can laugh about myself. My profile quickly proves the complexity of my relationship to the clothes-thing. As a young child frightened and confused by regular parental fights with screaming and violence (only to furniture and other objects, fortunately), I developed a classic reaction of desiring to be a Perfect Little Gentleman in hopes it would help

@MissPriscillaPrim: we are all products of our upbringing. For good or bad. Some seem like they must have had the perfect family, because they are so good, yet under the surface, they are a seething mass of anger and self hate. The mask they wear was developed in childhood as self defence against a parent or some other authority figure who demanded perfection and threatened dire punishment.

You happen to be one of the people here that I just accept as I hope to be accepted.

@Serenitree: TYVM. You're perceptive and, guessing from your name, experienced at discussions with troubled people. (Aren't we all? This issue of mine I brought to peaceful resolution, more-or-less, and full acceptance years ago.) For relative brevity, I didn't mention my father's sngularly cruel corporal punishment with a hard leather riding crop on my thighs "because the buttocks have too much cushion." But I learned long ago : if you think you had familial problems, just listen to other people's stories.
You sound like a pleasure to be around. :)

Thank you, Sir!... (Miss? None a-my biz really)... So many years of carelessly self-centered, immaturely reactive behavior... support from Better attire constantly reminds me of the pleasure of Better behavior. It's clearly simple; is it simplistic or shallow?
