I started getting manicures with clear polish about a year ago, after a friend suggested it may help me stop biting my nails and cuticles. Back in May, a friend's son (he's 7 or 8) got his nails done when he went to the mall with his mom. He was bullied in school the next day - including by the teacher. So, as a bit of solidarity for him - to show him that "boys" can paint their nails if the want to - I got mine done in a color instead of clear. And I liked it enough that I've been getting a color since then. (I have a sparkly green at the moment.)
