I Am a Sensitive Person

Does anyone appreciate poetry any more. I've been writing since I was five years old. I knew I might have a bit of talent when I talked my country boy best friend to read one and he cried. That was a long time ago but a good affirmation.

My favorite is this one by Countee Cullen:

Incident

Incident
Once riding in old Baltimore,
Heart-filled, head-filled with glee,
I saw a Baltimorean
Keep looking straight at me.

Now I was eight and very small,
And he was no whit bigger,
And so I smiled, but he poked out
His tongue, and called me, 'Nigger.'

I saw the whole of Baltimore
From May until December;
Of all the things that happened there
That's all that I remember.

I love poetry I'm much to afraid to share anything I have written but I love to read others work. And even if I don't share just writing brings me such joy and satisfaction

Does it matter if anyone else appreciates poetry? I don't appreciate it, I appreciate that you've been doing something you love for 40 odd years that's what life's about!

I love poetry! I love that it can have structure, but it doesn't have to and you can just write what you please. What kind of poetry do you read and write?
