This is an old post I realise and you have probably by now discovered whether or not that cane was acquired for use on you, or for some other purpose. What I will say is that I attended a private boys only school in Australia and the cane was regularly used for misbehaviour. The cane in your photos is very similar to the cane my housemaster used and I can tell you, it hurts like hell! It is nearly 50 years since I was last caned at school and I can still remember the bite and fiery sting of each stroke and the lasting bruises and tenderness afterwards.
