I Appreciate Honesty

But if I'm being honest, besides Facebook, this is the only social network I've been completely honest on. I lied about things to make my life seem fuller on ThatNetworkILoveAndMissMost, because of the questions I didn't want to deal with. My life was complicated enough but it wasn't as "cute" as others' portrayals. So I made up a story here, an ex there, stuff I thought they thought mattered. It. Friggin. Didn't. And I felt gross.

So here's the truth:

I have not lied about ONE THING here. That's not a claim I can usually make.

Why are you running away because I ask if you were honest about ONE THING?

We all wear social masks. I'm asking if the face you show is authentic. If it is, there's no reason to question. The only reason you should be upset is if it isn't. And if it isn't, that's a whole other thing to discuss.

I'm with you. We have to tell little lies all the time just to get by, to avoid being too vulnerable. What I appreciate about this place is I can be absolutely honest. I rarely have to go to vulnerable places, but if I do, I don't have to hide or sugar-coat anything. It is a luxury I don't have in my day to day life.
