I Appreciate Honesty

I believe most of us do.There cannot really be genuine communication between people without it.
While it's true most of us appreciate honesty, I think many people use other's honesty as a covert means of being in control. If you know someone else's truth, you can, by way of that information, use it as a kind of defense in knowing where you stand with that person. It's when you DON'T know what's going on with someone, that suspicions can arise, and so, a feeling of a need to protect may be born. Additionally, Even though people SAY they want honesty, so often what they want is for someone else to take their side and agree with them, regardless of the truth. There's more security in finding someone of like mind who might agree with a lie, than in hearing true information about oneself that's unattractive or painful.
