I Am An Atheist
Even though I'd call myself a tolerant person I sometimes find it hard to tolerate religion itself. Not necessarily religious people and their personal beliefs, but the fundamental beliefs themselves.
They just seem so contradicting and hypocritical overall; on one hand telling people to love and accept each other, on the other hand only if they also believe in God, are straight and cis.
I'm not saying all religious people are like that. Actually, I've met quite a lot that are super open-minded and tolerant as well because they are actually smart enough to open up their minds and don't center their minds on what's written in a book that's over 2000 years old and has been translated through a bunch of different languages which leads to a high chance of including misconceptions and translation errors.
I think it's the hypocrisy of it that bothers me the most and idk... I've rarely seen anyone on the Internet with the same attitude as me. The ones I've seen were usually just straight up hating on anything and anyone that has to do with religion which is also kind of hypocritical, especially if they said they were tolerant and accepting earlier.
Does anyone else feel the same about that, like, is having a hard time tolerating certain things although they may call themselves open-minded and tolerant?
