I Am An Atheist

I grew up in an odd household & didn’t have much of a childhood but, we were religious. I’m became an atheist as I grew older cause I always had the feeling there was something off about God & the story of Jesus. We didn’t see any of that happen so, how could we be so damn sure of it. But, the thing that made me really believe that there is no God is the amount of war, homelessness, hunger & everything else going on in our world. I have other, personal reasons that I won’t share but, my point is that if this perfect person, this guy that spreads love all over the world, heals the wounded & sick is here, than why is there tragedy all over the place?

No offense, but if you read the Bible, all this stuff you see is what is supposed to happen. The Bible says there will be famines, wars, and sickness. The Bible does not promise Heaven on Earth. It promises Heaven in Heaven.

Life on this earth is a test to show our love of God. If we love Him, and we accept Jesus as part of God, and our savior, then we go to heaven where it also says in the Bible will NOT have death, sickness, and mayhem.

If you do not want anything to do with God, then God puts you where you would want to be, in a place completely removed from Him. It is called Hell.

On this Earth, it is not what you are given. We are all given different things good, we can call them talents, or we can call them gifts, and we are also given things that are bad. What we are given means nothing. What we do with it means every thing, and it is all that matters.

@carsonfry That's kind of sidestepping the core issue, of why an omnipotent, omnibenevolent deity would allow innocent people to suffer horrifically against their will.

The Problem of Evil, as it's called. From a certain perspective... I can buy an omnibenevolent god allowing evil to exist, but what gets me every time is how many people have committed attrocities under the false impression that they were doing God's will. Countless Jews, Pagans, natives peoples murdered under the belief that it was what God wanted, and no commentary from the peanut gallery.

Agreed. I am a Christian, but I don't have a problem with people who don't believe. There is so much hate and evil and suffering out there. Best we can do is treat each other right.
