I Love the Ocean

There is a place I use to go all the time that would always help me clear my head, calm my heart and just allow me to be for a few moments no matter how loud or stressful things got around me. It wasn't hard to find or get to, but it did amazing things that no other place could do for me.

When I had a bad break up or lost a friend, I went there. Come rain or shine, if things got out of hand or my depression hit hard, I went there. I would always walk to the end and sit, listen, breathe in and just let it all wash away.

I took many people there when not feeling or dealing with these things, but never told anyone why it was special to me. Most probably thought because I was a beach bum it was and that works for me.

I haven't been there in years, it's still there, still amazing, but I just can't do it like I use to. But I do plan on it, I will return to it.

We all need a place that does that for us or even a person. Anything that helps us center ourselves is a good thing. Hold on to it as long as you can, but don't be afraid to let go when the time is right to move on.

Here's a pic of my place, what's yours?

I love the ocean, and I miss living near it. It's the best thing for calming my soul and bringing peace. I need to find a place where I live now. The mountains are beautiful, but they are quite a drive in traffic to get there. Sometimes I go to a lake near my house where I write and contemplate, but it's not the same as what I found at the ocean.

@ChampagneOnIce I agree, I lived in the mountains for a time and loved it. Found beauty and solace there, but yes, there is something about the ocean. The sounds, the fragrances, the energy.

There is always, well usually always a place one can find anywhere to go for similar feelings and connections, but each has it's on draw. I do hope you find something close to you that can give you what the ocean did.

I find, though it's not the same, that if I am going through a rough patch, that there are 10 hour long videos of pretty much anything. Rainstorms, a crackling fire and even the ocean. Not the same but close.

Thank you for sharing.

@MrPerditus1 Thank you. There is something very special about the ocean. Nothing seems to affect me the same way that it does. I agree; there are other ways to find those feelings and connections, and I do employ them when needed, but the ocean is unique in how it speaks to my soul.

@ChampagneOnIce I couldn't agree more. Lucky for me, I was born here, raised and no matter how many times I've left, I always seem to make my way back.

@MrPerditus1 My goal is to make my way back someday as well. I love where I live now and the quality of life we have. If my state had an ocean, it would be perfect for me. :)
