Anyone else majoring in education and starting student teaching this year?

I am so excited and so nervous at the same time.

The first year teaching high school for me was the toughest. That has been a few years ago however. After get your credibility with the students the rest of the path was pretty simple to achieve tenure.

@Pfuzylogic I plan to be teaching elementary special education...so hopefully the students show a bit more respect...children are a tad more respectful than teens.

I never had difficulty at achieving respect from my students. If you are qualified, it will be found out very quickly. Special Education is challenging and very important. I hope the best for you.

@Pfuzylogic thank you!

I graduated in 2016 and loved my student teaching. Needless to say I don’t teach, it was not for me. Not enough intrinsic nor extrinsic reward for me.

@ChiyoSKL This is what I've wanted to do since I was five years old...I really hope I don't find out the same thing.
ChiyoSKL · 31-35, F
Yeah, it may be for you! I should have done secondary probably. My biggest depression was the amount of work I brought home after a full day of work. When I get home I just want to leave work at work. That’s why it wasn’t for me. @antisocialbutterfly

@ChiyoSKL I understand that...and that may be hard....but children are my passion and I truly look forward to this

I would be... those little creatures will eat you alive and spit you back out. You are a brave woman... I will pray for you!
antisocialbutterfly · 22-25, F
@Spokeskitties75 well thank you...but it's the career I've wanted since I was five...so I'm excited

@antisocialbutterfly my sister is an arts teacher! In all seriousness, I’m excited for you... you have gone through a lot to get where you are and you are on the cusp of doing what you wanted to your whole life.. congratulations 🎉🍾

@Spokeskitties75 Thank you

Thanks for your dedication - and for choosing Special Education. I bet you do great things. :)

@hlpflwthat Thank you!

No. I had a good degree
antisocialbutterfly · 22-25, F
@midnightsun Teaching is a good degree. Anyone who bashes teachers should really evaluate and find where a teacher never did anything good for their life (i.e. support them, teach them how to read, teach them math...you know the basic skills I'm sure you are using to this very day...skills that helped you get that "good degree"...because nobody can graduate college without any knowledge of reading or math). If a teacher never did anything for you...then I am truly sorry.
midnightsun · 26-30, M
@antisocialbutterfly it's ok. Nothing personal.

If you like it then I respect you.

@midnightsun What a dickhead remark. You don't need any lessons on how to act like a creep.
