Is anyone here a substitute teacher?

Or has been a sub before?

Did you like it?
How is it?
Do you get to pick the grade(s) that you'd prefer and the range that you will drive to get to the school(s)?

Curious because I'm applying for jobs at a school district and may consider sub jobs for additional work/pay. Or maybe until I find more solid employment.

Each district in my area has different rules. I was open to all grades so I could get the most days. Being a substitute is hard because often you get little to no prep time in a subject. Whereas the regular teacher is usually adept in the subject. Overall I liked it though. It has been a long time since I subbed

it’s great. like having nieces and nephews. when you’re done the day, you give the kids back to their regular teacher. if they’re bad kids you’ll be thankful they aren’t your own all year!
