Faded memories of childhood best forgotten

I have someone that I do not know
He whispers to me and says
That we were friends a long time ago
We use to play together in the snow
Maybe that's why I let the memory go
It was cold

He whisperd again don't you remember
the socks and sand how we use to fling them
Sky high and see who could catch both
But I guess I had lost so I chose
not to remember

He grins and let's me further in
don't you remember the gate we climbed under
as we were exploring
The marks we made in the sand
memories of our school lessons

And I began to remember at first
The color of his shirt bright red
then I remembered his mom and dad
as they were walking with us to play

What happened to them I began to say
but his grin faded so I knew not to
Go into that memory

And then I remembered watching the games on
Friday night in the basement of his parents flat.
And I remembered that we use to use the pillows to reenact everyplay

I wished I could have stayed

But then I return back to the present and remembered why I forgot all of it and the smile I held on my face vanished and I closed him and those memories back away.
