I Admire Wit and Intelligence

Intelligence and attraction
[sep]
I don't think there's anything more attractive than wit and intelligence. I don't pretend to be so deep that I don't pay attention to people's physical attractiveness initially but it means virtually nothing once I know how interesting they really are. One thing I've come to notice about conventionally attractive people is that they often aren't interesting or witty. Not because of some weird genetic malformation but because they've been able to rely on their looks, therefore haven't felt a real need to develop an actual personality. In this way I'm actually glad that I was an ugly duckling. I had to develop a full personality if I wanted people to engage with me. It doesn't matter in the end what someone looks like, what goes on inside their head is what makes a person enjoyable to spend time with.

Wit, intelligence and personality are absolutely important! To me, the soul of a person is everything. I can seem to find physical beauty in anything that has spiritual beauty. I can also see the thin veneer of what others may deem as conventional beauty that is trying to adhere to an empty, black soul. But beauty can not stick to nothingness. There must be substance.

@Magnolia: Thank you. It's nice to be complimented on my attempts of articulating! Sometimes I do well and sometimes I fall flat on my face!! Haha 😊

Very much in love with this post.

Glad to see someone who gets it regarding intelligence and depth.

Wow! That's magnificent. Someone who actually understands that and can articulate it without being offensive to others. If that's actually your pic, you win the triple crown. Wit, intelligence and physical attractiveness! (Or is that Angolans Jolie🤔)
😊

Although if the picture you use on here is of you, you are certainly not an ugly duckling!

I used to get picked on when I was younger, related to my looks. It's funny cos now sometimes people compliment me on my smile whereas before they used to pick on me for my teeth.
I need to decide on a profile picture really. I'm wary of putting one up of myself because there are a lot of dodgy people on here.

When we're younger it's like there's nothing more important than fitting in but once we get a little older we realise that our differences are really what makes us beautiful. If you do put up a pic, you'll get a lot more dodgy messages for sure but I think people pay more attention to your posts when they can see your face.

I think I still haven't accepted that (about fitting in) but I have been housebound all my adulthood due to severe M.E (illness) so I haven't really been amongst people or had so much life experience.

Also my teeth seem to be deciding to move again (I did want a brace but I would have to go out to get it and the tiniest thing makes me a lot worse...I'm having trouble turning over in bed most the time the last few days and typing on here on my phone+eating snacks is the most I've done so not really possible).

I have made friends (online and carers) and know that there are people who just accept you and don't care what you look like and I know how shallow people are if they do comment on your looks. I didn't really seem to be affected long term by bullying as some people are, I think because I didn't think I looked that bad anyway and wasn't overly concerned and just found it annoying but that was it!
